Paper & Cake

When you are thinking of a new idea for a business, it can be easy to go with the default: a franchise, a restaurant, things that are proven and have an existing customer base. There is nothing wrong with this…it’s smart! However, it’s inspiring to see people continuing to create new business ideas and products, things you never even realized you needed until you saw them.

I think the business that Abigail Barnes of Paper & Cake is a great example. She makes printable party ware…and it’s even cooler than it sounds. All her products you buy, download, print and assemble yourself. But, who doesn’t mind a bit of handiwork, when the results are like this?

Not to mention that it’s way cheaper than going to Party City and the like. This might be one of the best ways to “buy local” for party ware…it’s coming from your own printer on your own local network.

Read this great interview with her to find out more.

So, what do you think?
